Thrust limiting and / or thrust overload protection can be a very important function in applications where a physical end of stroke limit by the machinery or structure exists. Furthermore, the detection of mid-stroke obstructions can be identified. Corrective action can be taken before physical damage to the attached equipment or the actuator occurs due to excessive forces.
The thrust overload unit measures constantly the true power consumption of the actuator motor and compares that value to a predefined thrust value. If the threshold thrust value is exceeded, relay contact changes its state to interrupt the motor starter circuit.
